New Orleans, LA – 10/31 – Nov 2

Halloween in New Orleans is bonkers! We did a hop-on-hop off bus where we learned a lot about the history of New Orleans. The live guide was really passionate about his city and incredibly knowledgeable. The most interesting thing I remember was how the above ground crypts work. I won’t describe it here in case anyone reading is eating right now, but check out the link above if you’re curious!

We had to try beignets for breakfast. Pretty good, but they go overboard on the powdered sugar! Lunch was at Pierre Monspero’s, which has operated in the same location since 1788. We sampled several local dishes:  Cajun Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffée, Red Beans and Rice, and Chicken & Andouille Gumbo. Of course accompanied by the official NOLA cocktail: the Hurricane.

After the respectable adult portion of the day, we hit Bourbon street! We heard a couple great bands, watched costumed people in the street from the famous Cat’s Meow Balcony, and I sang karaoke there! It was a “must-do” for me. If you’re ever bored, check out the live Earth Cams for New Orleans (or any of them all over the world actually!) The Cat’s Meow cameras are highly entertaining 😂
