Grand Canyon 1/28/24

By

We left Vegas early Sunday morning and made it to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

We drove directly to the visitor center at Mather Point where we watched the interpretive movie and viewed the exhibit. Following that, we took a short stroll along the South Rim Trail. We then went to the Yavapai Geology Museum, which had excellent information about how the canyon was formed.

Next up was a snack at the EL Tovar Hotel on the rim. We watched the Chiefs get to the Superbowl with a view of the canyon simultaneously. What a beautiful lodge it is – built in 1905 and a National Historic Landmark.

On the way out of the park, we checked out the campground and scoped some sites for next year! That is…before wimping out and getting a hotel room in Williams. Hey, it was in the 20s that night! It was cheap for off season and we enjoyed the hot tub to ourselves after a great BBQ dinner at Frontier Barbeque & Beer Garden. Lad got to watch the 49rs vs Lions game and we made friends with the staff (who were all completely bored off-season) Looks like it would be a hoppin’ place in the summer!

You simply cannot take photos that capture the awe-some-ness of this place.
