Hoover Dam 1/26/24

By

It’s 1/29 but we’ve had such a crazy weekend that each day deserves a post.

Friday, 1/26, we drove into Nevada and visited the Hoover Dam. Such a marvel of engineering! I am amazed it took them just five years to build it with the resources they had in terms of machinery and technology. Yet such a project now would likely take much longer and at a much higher cost (inflation adjusted)!

After being pulled over and out van searched by homeland security (we understand and totally get it!), we drove across and walked back over to the visitor center.

We took the tour of the hydroelectric power plant and saw a rare sight of one of the turbines out of its housing. (It was being repaired.)

That night, we camped at Lake Meade National Recreation Area. Campsites were a bit too close together for our tastes, but the view was worth it!
